Welcome to Quid. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Quid's website, services, and applications (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

1.2 What Quid Is NOT

Quid provides financial education only. Quid does NOT:

  • Provide financial advice, investment advice, or recommendations

  • Act as a financial advisor, investment advisor, or fiduciary

  • Recommend specific financial products, investments, or transactions

  • Manage your money or make investment decisions on your behalf

All content provided by Quid is for educational and informational purposes only.

You should always consult a qualified, FCA-regulated financial advisor before making any financial decisions. Quid is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and does not provide regulated financial services.

Any decisions you make based on information provided by Quid are your sole responsibility. We are not liable for any financial losses or consequences resulting from your use of the Service.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use Quid. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older.

2.2 Legal Capacity

You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2.3 Geographic Restrictions

The Service is primarily intended for users in the United Kingdom. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate or available for use in other locations.

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features of Quid, you must create an account by providing:

  • A valid email address

  • Any other information requested during registration

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update it as necessary to maintain its accuracy.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials

  • All activities that occur under your account

  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use or security breach

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.

3.3 Account Sharing

You may not share your account with others. Each subscription is for individual use only.

4. Subscription Plans and Pricing

4.1 Free Tier

Quid offers a free tier with:

  • 20 questions per month

  • Access to core financial topics

  • No payment required

4.2 Quid Pro Subscription

Quid Pro is a paid subscription offering:

  • Unlimited questions

  • Access to all topics including crypto, DeFi, and advanced financial concepts

  • Personalized learning paths and progress tracking

  • Weekly "Finance in the News" digest

Pricing: £6.99 per month (founding member rate, subject to change)

Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Payment is processed securely through Stripe.

4.3 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price increases for existing subscribers. Price changes will not affect your current billing cycle.

Founding members who subscribe during the launch period will maintain their discounted rate for as long as their subscription remains active.

4.4 Taxes

Prices do not include applicable taxes (e.g., VAT). You are responsible for any taxes imposed on your subscription.

5. Payment Terms

5.1 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.

By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees incurred.

5.2 Failed Payments

If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you and retry the charge. If payment cannot be processed after reasonable attempts, we may suspend or terminate your subscription.

5.3 Refunds

Refund Policy:

  • Free Tier: No refunds applicable (it's free)

  • Quid Pro: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee from the date of your first subscription payment. To request a refund, contact support@quidai.co.uk within 7 days.

  • After 7 days, subscriptions are non-refundable. You may cancel at any time, but no partial refunds will be issued for the current billing period.

We reserve the right to issue refunds at our discretion in exceptional circumstances.

6. Cancellation and Termination

6.1 Cancellation by You

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at support@quid.ai.

Upon cancellation:

  • You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period

  • No further charges will be made

  • Your account will revert to the Free tier unless you choose to delete your account entirely

6.2 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms

  • You engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity

  • We are required to do so by law

  • We discontinue the Service (we will provide reasonable notice)

6.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service ceases immediately

  • We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy

  • You remain liable for any outstanding fees owed

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will remain in effect.

7. Acceptable Use Policy

7.1 Permitted Use

You may use Quid for:

  • Personal financial education

  • Learning about financial concepts and topics

  • Asking questions about money and finance

7.2 Prohibited Use

You may NOT use Quid to:

  • Engage in illegal activity or violate any laws

  • Abuse, harass, threaten, or intimidate others

  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits or payment requirements

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code

  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission

  • Resell or redistribute access to the Service

  • Submit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity

  • Use the Service to provide financial advice to others

  • Collect or harvest user data without authorization

Violation of this policy may result in immediate account termination without refund.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

8.1 Our Intellectual Property

All content, features, functionality, and materials on Quid (including text, graphics, logos, design, software, and AI-generated responses) are owned by Quid or our licensors and are protected by UK and international intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or reproduce our content without permission

  • Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without authorization

  • Create derivative works based on the Service

8.2 Your Content

When you interact with Quid, you may provide questions, feedback, or other content ("Your Content").

By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and analyze Your Content for the purposes of:

  • Providing and improving the Service

  • Training and refining our AI models

  • Generating aggregated, anonymized insights

We will not share Your Content publicly or attribute it to you without your permission.

8.3 Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about Quid, we may use that feedback without any obligation to compensate you.

9. AI-Generated Content and Accuracy

9.1 Nature of AI Responses

Quid uses artificial intelligence (specifically, Anthropic's Claude) to generate educational responses to your questions.

Important Limitations:

  • AI responses are generated automatically and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information

  • AI cannot replace professional financial advice from a qualified advisor

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content

  • Financial laws, regulations, and market conditions change frequently

9.2 No Warranty of Accuracy

While we strive to provide high-quality educational content, we make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of information provided by Quid.

You use the information at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1 Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, QUID IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose

  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure

  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of content

10.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY UK LAW:

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or income

  • Loss of data or information

  • Financial losses resulting from decisions made using the Service

  • Losses from investment or financial decisions

  • Business interruption or loss of opportunity

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from your use of Quid shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

10.3 Exceptions

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Quid, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service

  • Your violation of these Terms

  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights

  • Financial decisions you make based on information from Quid

12. Third-Party Services

Quid uses third-party services including:

  • Anthropic (Claude API): Powers our AI responses

  • Stripe: Processes payments

  • Email providers: Deliver communications

These third parties have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their actions or policies.

Links to external websites are provided for convenience. We do not endorse or assume responsibility for third-party content.

13. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time

  • Change features, functionality, or pricing

  • Update the Service to improve performance or security

We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where possible. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Service.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in:

  • Legal or regulatory requirements

  • Service features

15.2 Jurisdiction

You agree that any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Quid will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15.3 Informal Resolution

Before filing a legal claim, you agree to first contact us at legal@quid.ai to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Quid regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

18. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
